[ Versión en español aquí ] At last! Michiyuki gave us a link to a KOF movie behind the scenes clip. I haven't been looking for information hard enough because sometimes I feel like I don't care. But I can't turn my back when someone kindly sends me a clip to traumatize me forever ^_^.

So here we go:

Source

*speechless*

Why, oh why, must script writers always turn characters into normal people when everybody knows that they have/will have powers? WTF?

...

Flying swords on fire~ Kusanagi no ken taken literally =D. Is that a sun on his sleeve? (No hope regarding BLACK hair, though).

Terry is CIA~?? xDDDDDD

Lestat... again?

(This page is supposed to be centered on The King of Fighters or, at least, Iori and Kyo. However, as no news about the KOF live-action movie have come up, I’m commenting on other topics, like Fast & Furious being VERY slashable xD, and so on.)

Yesterday, I read something about Robert Downey Jr. (known by me as “the guy from Iron Man”, because I don’t watch TV at all) being casted as LESTAT. Somebody wants to relaunch the Vampire Chronicles saga into the big screen, maybe to lure Twlight (ugh) fans, which would be a good thing if they stick to VC’s adventure plot and leave Rice’s pathetic religious burden aside (those poor girls need to read a real vampire novel). If not, Twilight fans will have solid reasons to despise Lestat, and even some VC fans would have to agree.

I left a comment in Slashfilm, although I don’t usually participate in online discussions. And while writing it, I felt that I wanted to say too much about my issues with the Chronicles. And I knew it wasn’t the right place, because it’s a movie site, not a book site, and my problems begin in the fifth or sixth book or so, and many years of movies would be needed to get there.

I couldn’t care less about the actor’s choice. I know he’s too old, and, personally, the perfect Lestat will forever be the one portrayed by Tom Cruise in 1996 (an later by Kamijo, but he’s Japanese and a singer, not an actor ¬¬ [see avatar]). My only thought was: “Another movie? To see Lestat turn into a Christian on screen?”

But I had to shut up and come here. I don’t expect vampire movies to stir thoughts other than: money for the producers, beautiful, sensual creatures, eroticism and blood~ I really don’t think movie-only fans are aware of Anne Rice’s return to Christianity, they still don’t know that Lestat became a version of herself, stripped from all the things that made him so attractive in the three first books.

I have read all Rice’s books that are related to Lestat, because of Lestat, because I used to ADORE Lestat. I had to suffer while seeing the author mess with his mind, pushing him to seek God’s forgiveness, entry to paradise, salvation of his soul, the love of a fucking witch (sorry, Mayfair lovers, I still cringe at the thought of Mona, and no, I don’t plan to read the Mayfair books).

Yes, part of vampires’ charm was their constant struggle with God, but this is too much. It’s like seeing the faithful dragging themselves up a mountain on their knees, asking for a miracle. Or that guy who PRAYED instead of calling a doctor while watching her daughter have a seizure.

I saw how Rice broke up all the pairings. Although not physically, she put Louis miles away from Lestat, and did the same with Daniel and Armand. And the fact that in the first books she stated that creators and their fledglings tend to grow apart is no excuse, because she virtually made characters DISAPPEAR, the only explanation being: “Louis represented a dark period of my life, which I’ve already overcome, so, there, no Louis.” I mean, what the fuck?

Lestat suddenly became one of the biggest GaryStu I’ve ever read. It’s quite obvious why people started (or continued) writing (even more) fanfics… and Rice sent her lawyers armed with Cease & Desist letters, threatening ficwriters if they did not take the fics down…

Oh, and there’s a paragraph in one of the latest books, in which she says (I quote by heart and inaccurately, because I didn’t think the book was worth remembering): “I receive fanmail in my house of New Orleans, and fans ask: where’s the Harley? Where’s the music? Where’s the rebellious and sensual attitude of years ago? Well, that’s past, I’m different now, and if you don’t like the new me, screw you.”

Oook, Lestat didn’t say it like that, sorry xDDDDD. But that’s the feeling I got from the book. And I couldn’t believe it, because that was Anne Rice, a serious writer, taking her character’s place to tell her fans: “I believe in God now, that’s not gonna change, get over it.”

And from then on, it was only godgodgodgodgodGODALMIGHTY. A parade of vampires going into the sun like idiotic, brainless jerks (sorry, this is bad for my nerves), just because Lestat kind of confirmed the existence of God. All the vampires we care about, more-than-half-a-century-old vampires turned into religious fanatics because the author said so, from one book to the other.

And if we tried to vent our frustration through fanfics, we risked getting sued.

Lovely.

And now I wonder, are they going to make a film about THAT? Because, after “Tale of the body thief”, there’s Lestat’s visit to God, then books about other vampires while Lestat is in shock under a church. And, when he finally rises as a mutant-Christian-vampire!Lestat, the crossover with the witches begins. And there I was, with a beautifully written book in my hands, feeling that it told me absolutely nothing.

Luckily (?), Rice closed the vampire saga and began her series about teh Christz! Better have her writing about Jesus’s POV full-time, than seeing Lestat and his dreams of becoming a saint. The only problem I see, is that she may request participating in the script, as in the first movie. “Interview with the Vampire” I loved. “The Queen of the Damned” I hated. I’m sure she learned from that mistake. If she isn’t involved, people doesn’t know how to handle her vampires. A fanfic would have been better than the second movie! If she participates, however, there’ll be religion. I don’t see her returning to how it was before. The sweet scene of Lestat asking Louis: “Do you love me now?” will never, ever make it to the final cut. Instead, we will have Lestat praying the rosary on his knees before the Pope.

If they ignore the religious themes in the movie, I may watch it. I’ve been waiting for another, DECENT, movie for too long. I had lost hope, and now they say it’s possible. I don’t care if it’s a commercial, pop-corn movie, I won’t mind if it’s CGI-filled, I just want to see the characters as they were before, cutting all the religious crap.
