The four main characters of YYH

I'll begin saying something IMPORTANT: the data I'm putting here I have took it from the ORIGINAL manga version which is almost the same in the anime. I have tried to put it as faithfully as I could, ages, dates, names, etc, etc. So, if you don't believe me, you can consult the ORIGINAL version of Yuu Yuu Hakusho and if you have any doubt of ANYTHING that's not very clear you can consult me. I'm not saying that all is perfect, BUT I doubt you can find a mistake(not considering my personal opinions and the grammar part, OK?)... other thimg, I'm putting fist the name and second the last name(but in japanese the last name is first).

This is Yuusuke Urameshi, the hero of the series, a young delinquent, that lives with his mother Atsuko(she is an alcoholic), who died trying to save a boy at the very beginning, when he is 14 years old... (interesting, ne?). He is resuscitated by Koenma and in exchange he became a reikai tantei(reikai detective) and there's how begin his adventures.

His best friend and rival is Kazuma Kuwabara(another delinquent) and there's also Keiko Yukimura, a nice and good student girl who's always arguing with him, yelling at yuusuke when he skip classes or say or do something stupid. Keiko always was more than his friend but there was nothing say till the ends when she became his official fiance.

It's at the second big part when we discover that Yuusuke is not just a simple human... not human at all... let me explain. After Sensui have killed him(yes, again) we discover that Yuusuke is a 'mazokudaikakusei'. What's it? Well it seems that Yuusuke's predecessor is a powerful youkai, an S class youkai of big level and Yuusuke resuscitated(yes, again) because of that, in other words he resuscitated as a youkai, no human any more because his human heart is still stopped but what maintains him alive is his youki and since then his ancesor becomes his father 'Raizen' who's dying because he reuses to eat.

After a year with Raizen and a hard training, his father died and Yuusuke became the king of his Raizen's domains. To avoid the imminent war between the three kingdom Yuusuke propose a tournament in which would be decided the future makai ruler. He had promised Keiko that in three years he would return to ningenkai to marry her, but he returned in two years, after the tournament's end(he loosed against Yomi after having fought for 60 hours), when he was 17.

Yuusuke ends selling food in a restaurant and I suppose that he marry Keiko in the future. And he continued his adventures with his friends(this part is better explain at the manga).

Weapons: the most used is the 'rei gun' a kinnda shoot of energy that concentrate in his index finger. There's too the 'shoot gun'(his energy is concentrated in his fists) and he is an expert in hand to hand fights. Voice: Nozomu Sasaki

He is Kurama, the gorgeous bishonen. Kurama is really a Youko(a fox spirit/youkai) the legendary, stone heart, cruel and powerful thief of makai, who after has been shot down by a hunter at the makai, he escaped to ningenkai, inserting his soul at a human woman's fetus. That's how Kurama literally reborn as a redhead human called Shuuichi Minamino and has a human mother 'Shiori' who showed him how to love and care. There's an incident with shiori when he was humanly young: Kurama was at the kitchen when some plates were about to fall over him Shiori protected him and that let scars in her arms; it seems that it shocked Kurama pretty good because since then he became the protector of his mother's happiness and he tried to correspond Shioris feelings as much as he could.

We saw him for the first time, when he was 15, when he, Hiei and Goki stole the 'yami no sandai hihou'(the three treasured artifacts of darkness) from reikai and Yuusuke should recover them. Kurama stole the 'ankokukiyou'(mirror of darkness), a mirror that can grant a wish in exchange of a life, because Shiori was deadly sick and he wanted to use the mirror to save the woman he debt so much. He was about to died for her sake but Yuusuke share his life with him and Shiori recovers without Kurama's sacrifice. After Yuusuke recovers the three devises, Kurama and Hiei are punished by the reikai and the punishment consist in became reikai tanteis to protect ningenkai and help Yuusuke.

At the second big part he can change shapes at the most powerful( and beautiful) form of youko Kurama, at his will(after that we can see that once a month, because of the bioritmo, in full moon he change to his youko form). His mother got married again in July with 'Hatanaka' (I don't know his name) and now he has a stepbrother too, 'Shuuichi Hatanaka '(13)

He is summoned to makai by an old 'friend' of his: 'Yomi'. Yomi is one of the three kings that rule makai and was the second in command in Kurama's gang when they were thieves, till nice Kurama told him that he was out with an ambush he prepared and where Yomi got blind. Kurama went to makai two months after Yuusuke and Hiei. Yomi 'convinced'(talking with him about how frequently were air accidents, when Shiori was in an airplane with his new husband) Kurama to help him and he acceded, soon becoming the second in command, the subchief, Yomi was the chief.

At the end he was one the finalist of the tournament, he returned to ningenkai and decided to help his stepfather in his company but he continued his adventures with his friends and in some part at the end(in the manga) he say something that could mean that he won't be human for ever, but by then he let those things to Hiei.(I think you know, too, what is said about Kurama and Hiei, ne? That they are lovers and I have that idea too.)

As Shuuichi Minami he is a nice, polite, intelligent, warm, calm, charming, well manered, perfect son... Am I forgetting something? who study at a private high school and he is the best student. All right, lets say that his only defect is be so perfect. But when the situation presents he is a warrior who have no mercy with enemies, specially if that someone harm the persons he loves(be careful with Shiori and Hiei or you can last like the mimosa's food, or your salad could eat you when is supposed to be other wise) he has deep, big green eyes, long red hair and he's usually confused as a woman. He began with 15 and at the end of the series he is 18 human years. Voice: Megumi Ogata.

As youko Kurama (Kurama is a mountain at Kyoto and means... a warehouse for horses... weird...)he is a gorgeous, almost seven feet(two meters or so) tall, also bishonen, silver fox with golden eyes, cool ears and all. He is more powerful when he is in youko. As youko he is mean, heartless, harm, unmerciful... bla, bla, bla,... thief, he is the legendary thief of makai that pass the 1000 years ( 1300 or so, who knows ^^' ) if you don't believe me read the manga #18 or see the original japanese chapter when he go to makai to meet Yomi. In this shape you can hardly mistake him as a woman and he also can turn in a complete silver kitsune(fox) with a lot of tails. Voice: Shigeru Nakahara.

Weapons: Kurama can use any kind of plant and transform it in a deathful weapon. His favorite is the 'rose whip' like the name says he transform the rose in a whip with sharp thorns that can cut anything. Other weapons he used at the series: 'fuka enbujin' (blast flower waltz formation) it's an attack that consist in a a lot of rose petals that are really sharp that surrounded Kurama attacking at anything that get within it, it's more like a shield. 'Makai no Ojigisou'(sensitive plant of makai or mimosa). Do you remember his fight against Karasu?. 'kyu kettsu shokubutsu'(blood sucker plant) do you remember how he killed Karasu?. 'Janenju'(wick thoughts tree) it got attach at the enemy an make him/her has hallucinations till the person die. He used it to defeat Toguro ani. 'Juryoyousanken' (It's weird so if you want to know, go to the yuu2 trems section) he used it against Sensui. Etc.

He is the jaganshi Hiei(jagan is a third eye, a demonic eye) he is the bad tempered and Kurama's best friend(I think, and a lot of people do, that they are lovers). He appears at the same time that Kurama when they stole at the reikai. He stole the 'kouma no tsurugi' (demon's sword) that sword can change human in demon(or I think so). He implanted that jagan and went to ningenkai in order to find his sister Yukina. Hiei is a youkai that was born from a 'koorime' (ice woman) and it's supposed that koorimes are just females; koorimes reproduces asexually and just have girls but if a koorime is pregnant because she have sex with a male, a male kid will born. It's forbidden to koorimes to have contact with males(that's why they live in a floating island) and if a male is born they have to get rid off him and kill the mother, too; that's why Hiei is the forbidden child. His mother was Hina and who throw him to the fall was Rui(the others forced her to) his mother's friend. When a koorime is born the mother cry a tear gem(all koorimes cries tear gems... don't ask if Hiei do because I don't know. Hina cried two, one for Yukina and one for Hiei.

He become a reikai tantei, too and find his sister that has been kidnapped by Gonzou Tarukane at the Tarukane mansion because of her tear gems, but the gang(in special Kuwabara) safe her. Yukina doesn't know that Hiei is his brother but she is looking for him.

Hiei is summoned to makai by Mukuro, a female youkai that half of her body is bionic. Hiei went to makai and she tested him making him fight against other youkais. She told her that she would show him her body and named him her general if he won to a youkai she would brought him and he answered that he was there just make himself stronger and that he wasn't interested. The youkai she brought was Shigure the 'makai seitaishi'(plastic surgery body ...) the makai surgeon, who implanted him his jagan and showed him the sword art. Shigure had operated Hiei with the condition of never say his sister he was his brother but if Hiei defeated him there, he would returned his word to Hiei. Hiei almost die then, he felt there was nothing for him left there, but mukuro put him in a regeneration tank and save him. Later he become her second in command.

He was defeated by mukuro at the tournament and he become a frontiers guard because of that. Since the barrier that separated makai and ningenkai was broken he traveled when he wanted with his friends. And as I said he continued his adventures with the others.

Hiei(Hiei is a mountain, too, at Kyoto(but the kanjis are different) and means flying shadow) is a fire demon, contrary at his koorime nature, but the fire he can handle is the black fire, the most powerful fire, he also can control others will (if they are weak) see beyond the evident (he, he) because of his jagan and he also has a majin aspect(green with a lot of eyes over his body. You can see him like this when he fight Yuusuke for first or at the second movie). His weapons are: the 'Jaou Ensatsu Koku Ryu Ha'(the evil king wave of the flame killing black dragon). 'jaou ensatsu ken'( the evil king flame killing sword) is a sword made of Hiei's energy and the black fire. 'Ensatsu rengoku shou'(fire killing scorching of purgatory) do you remember Hiei throwing a lot of punches at high speed? Well, that's it. I think he has some I'm forgetting... He is Kazuma Kuwabara, best friend and rival of Yuusuke. At the beginning they are kinnda enemies... not enemies at all, Kuwabara challenged Yuusuke each time he could and always was defeated by him. Kuwabara have a sister called Shizuru Kuwabara, his onesan(old sister) who always is kicking his ass because of Kuwabara's stupidities. Look that Yuusuke and Kazuma always called by the last names between them. In Japan, the most usual thing is that between males they called by the last name, but they can also use the name(don't ask about Hiei and Kurama because I don't think they have a last name. if you want further info about the importance of hierarchy in Japan you can also go to the Yuu2 terms, there I'll talk about all that things of san, sama, kun, etc).

Kuwabara is a telepath, he have strong mind powers and perception. He become in love with Yukina(yes, the Jaganshi's sister) and that makes Hiei mad. Kuwabara doesn't know that who's the brother she is looking for and Hiei won't tell him, that's why he can do nothing about Kuwabara courting his sister.

When his friends are summoned to makai, he is not, so he stay at ningenkai to study and to be someone(all because of Yukina). at the end we see that while studying he always visited Yukina at Genkai's temple, but after, she move to Kuwabra's place. I'm not sure if they marry or something like that, but I think so.

His most used weapon is the 'Rei Ken'(spiritual sword) that is a yellow made from his own ki. He got that technique when he was at the competition to become Genkai's pupil in a fight against Musashi, but he learned to control it after training with Kurama. At the second big part(it's at there when the most notorious changed are marked, OK?) appeared the'Jigentou'(dimensional sword), it's more powerful than reiken and can cut through dimensions, better say, it cross over the space and attack... just imagine Kuwabara is 100 meters away from you, he just make it work and without he moving from he is the sword reach you(still at Kuwabara's hand) and cut you in two halves.
