Stranded
(Songfic)

By Silver Shuriken

"You're staying?"  Kurama asked the silent fire demon.
"Hn."  Hiei shifted on his feet a little uneasily.
Kurama bent his head and tightened his hold on his backpack.
"Then I'm setting you free."  The youko murmured huskily, looking
morosely at the fire youkai.
Hiei gazed coldly back at the redhead.  Kurama merely smiled dully
and opened a portal back to the ningenkai, to the world he had learned to
love.  The fire youkai watched the weakened barrier disappeared
before flitting away to the world that welcomed him.

Standing here helpless
Where do I go
If you leave me alone
Where do I turn now
If it don't work out
As far as I can see
This isn't the way you said it would be...

The fire demon leaped agilely from tree to tree, looking back at the
fast darkening skies.  Mukuro would expect him to report to her the
next day.  The fire youkai stood against a giant makai tree and eyed
the empty, murky skies.  He sat down tiredly, arms wrapped around his
knees.  Kurama had refused to go with him.  The fire demon's ruby
eyes
blinked rough hands carelessly wiped away the trail of red wetness on
his cheeks.  He bit his cloak and muffled the sobs on his throat.
"Do you think I wanted this?"  He asked harshly to the empty air,
thoughts bring him back to the time he had the youko in his arms,
nights of endless passion and moments of irrefutable love.

Wasn't it you who brought me here
To the place lovers go
Just look at these arms
Reaching out to you
You said that you'd always care
I just turned around and there's nobody there

Kurama shifted restlessly on his bed.  The redhead was thinking of
Hiei.  The youko finally stood up and stared outside his widow.  The
moon was shining brightly tonight.  He recalled the many nights the
moon bore witness to their love, now all gone, turned into mere
ashes.
He missed the fire demon so much.... The redhead bit his lips to
control the stinging tears.  Hiei had left him finally in his own
free
will.  He had to let him go.   He would never want to burn Hiei's
wings or extinguish his free spirit.  He wanted the best for his
love.
He had tried his best to win the youkai's heart, lure him in the
ningenkai and into his arms forever.  In the end Hiei had chosen the
makai over him.

Don't leave me like this
Don't leave me stranded
If you walk away now
You leave me empty handed
Don't leave me like this
Don't leave me stranded
Don't leave me now
Don't leave me...

Kurama leaped briskly from atop several buildings.  He couldn't
sleep.
He had to get out of his room or go crazy thinking over the fire
demon.  He almost missed his jump when he sensed a flicker of
familiar
ki.  The youko's emerald eyes shone with disbelief and then with
renewed determination, he gracefully jumped the few remaining
buildings.

Hiei confusedly expanded his senses.  Were his faculties playing with
him?  He could feel Kurama's ki everywhere.
"Hiei!"
The fire youkai closed his eyes.  That voice.  How he craved for that
voice to whisper his name.
"Hiei!"
Soft hands settled on his shoulder blades.  The fire demon spin
around
in shock.
Kurama's emerald eyes darkened.  He dropped his hands and stared at
the fire youkai intensely.

You said that you'd always care
I just turned around and there's nobody there

Hiei suddenly grabbed the youko on the waist and embraced him
tightly.
Kurama's arms went around the compact chest, leaning his bright head
against the spiky hair.
"Kurama!"  The fire demon whispered tightly, brushing his face
against
the youko's chest
"Don't leave me, fox!"  The fire youkai blurted out in a rush; fresh
tears ran down his cheeks.
Kurama kissed the top of Hiei's head and made the youkai faced him.
"Hiei, don't leave me again."  The redhead whispered softly and bent
head to kiss his lover on the lips.

Don't leave me like this
Don't leave me stranded
If you walk away now
You leave me empty handed
Don't leave me like this
Don't leave me stranded
Don't leave me now
Don't leave me...
